Ibiza the party island

Ibiza the white island of fun!! with its crystal clear water, the balearic islands have so much to offer!! this small island has made a big name for it self... being world renown as the party island that never sleeps. the raver's capital of the world.. and hotter than a gob full of chilies!!!

Accommodation

I cant believe what im about to say, but your better off getting a package deal!! because the hotel or apartment price will work out much cheaper than finding your own digs. Which can be a bit of a nightmare during peak times.

general room standards are very clean, just a basic toilet/shower and not much of furnishing!! which is a good thing when you come back steaming!!(there's less to bump into!!)or break.. Try to look for a room with air con for that nap in between partying.

Food

Ibiza boasts a huge variety of places to eat in all price ranges, from up market restaurant's to local batch bars. Whatever your taste and budget im sure you will find something you love. Dinner is usually taken very late in the summer, between 9pm and 11.30pm, and in almost all restaurant's you will be given a basket of bread and thick, rich all i oli (garlic mayonnaise) to dip into before you order.

Drugs

Due to the dance scene and the all night rave culture, the drugs have grown with the clubbers needs... there are pills and powders everywhere which is a main draw for many visitors to Ibiza. And its easy to forget that Spanish drug laws are very strict.

Cannabis, amphetamines, ecstasy, cocaine, LSD, ketamine, GBH and heroin are all illegal. The maximum penalty for trafficking drugs is up to 12 years in prison. If you get caught with just a few pills or a gram of coke you will more likely to be cautioned and released fairly quickly. But being caught with larger amounts you would certainly be jailed, be careful most undercover cops pose as dealers, be warned!!

Cash

since 99 the Ibiza has been in(the euro) and because of its fame as party central, the living costs are insanely high!! about 20% more than main land Spain. Clubbing is a seriously expensive business around €30 JUST TO GET IN!! unfortunately this will be its down fall, as local greed will soon destroy this popular destination.

Ibiza by night

Ministry of Sound, who usually host the Fridays at Pacha, make way for the clubs celebrations by moving to a Thursday night. Together with Cream, Ministry is the islands longest running night and you can expect deep, soulful, house to be the music of choice with Masters at Work making regular appearances.

In 2002, Subliminal and Underwater jointly hosted the Wednesday nights at Pacha. However, this year sees them going their separate ways.

Underwater will host the Tuesday night with Darren Emerson and Tim Deluxe the residents, combined with excellent guests such as X-Press 2, Jon Carter and even Tim Westwood! Subliminal will continue on the Wednesdays with Erick Morillo the residents and appearances from the likes of Deep Dish, Josh Wink and Jose Nunez. The rest of the Pacha itinery sees Roger Sanchez’s Release Yourself returning on the Monday and the Def Mix crew back on Saturdays.

Across the road from Pacha right in the middle of a port surrounded by luxurious yachts is El Divinio. The club is similar to Pacha in the way it attracts a more European and older crowd than the rest of the islands’ clubs.

El Divinio is a very beautiful venue and is the best place to hold host to Miss Moneypenny's which takes place on a Tuesday. The glamourous club has been in Ibiza for years now, and returns again with resident Jim ‘Shaft’ Ryan and guests such as Danny Rampling, Lottie and Joey Negro.

Bobby and Steve return to El Divinio on a Friday with a night called Empire (they did Soul Heaven last year). And the club will also see Hed Kandi on a Saturday, Ibzia debutants Defected on a Sunday and Follow Me on Wednesdays.

A few miles away from Ibiza Town, just by Play d'en Bossa, is Space, probably the islands best loved club. Space signifies the unofficial start to the summer when it opens for the first time whilst their last night in September draws the season to a close. The club is most renowned for it's Terrace which is probably the most famous place to dance in the world. Rumours have been rife throughout the winter that the Terrace will be closing, but it’s here with us for one more summer at least.

We Love Sundays is the clubs most renowned event and the marathon session commences at 8am Sunday lasting right on through until 6am Monday morning. Throughout the summer there’ll be appearances from many of the most respected names in Dance, including Fatboy Slim, Sasha, Deep Dish, David Morales, Pete Tong, Steve Lawler, Francois K, Jeff Mills and many many more.

Other parties at Space include Carl Cox’s own night on a Wednesday, In Bed with Space on a Thursday and the Matinee Group on Saturdays. The club also hosts the after parties for Manumission, Tonic and La Troya.

This year sees a new addition to the clubbing venues called Pin Up. The club used to be called Konga and is situated on the main Playa d’en Bossa road not far from Space. Garlands, who created such a storm with their parties last year, will be at Pin Up every Tuesday with Rob Tissera, The Cuban Brother and Huey & Dave the residents. The club will also see Soul Heaven on a Wednesday and Izit Dance on Mondays.

Finally there is DC10, situated a few miles away from Space by the runway of the airport. This club is most famed for it's Circo Loco parties which take place on a Monday. Promoted by the legendary Charlie Chester tales of hedonistic excess often eminate from this messy affair. Also expect to see the odd surprise DJ appearance, with the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Fatboy Slim and Pete Tong turning up unannounced to play in the last couple of years.

So that's Ibiza 2003! Every second of every day on the island there's a party...somewhere…will you see any sunshine?
